Climate Change and biodiversity initiatives

There have been extreme events globally; changes to ecosystems, and Economy and Infrastructure implications, such as water supply/stress. future climate changes predict hotter drier summers, warmer wetter winters and sea level rises. There is a need to act – to protect future generations. Helping nature has multiple community benefits: from locking up carbon to reducing flooding.

The current trajectory for global warming is that the planet will be 3 degrees warmer without action by 2050. There is a need to bring carbon emissions and other emissions down. To meet the 1.5 degree warmer target by 2020 there needs to be a lot done by 2030.

A climate action and environmental working group has been set up to identify activities that could be undertaken and/or supported by Chestfield Parish Council.
