Planning Applications

Our Guide to Planning and Planning Applications – we have produced a guide which includes useful links to other sites for planning guidance – our leaflet also tells you what are valid planning concerns. The parish council is a statutory consultee for all applications in the parish but we are not the decision makers – Canterbury City Council is the local planning authority.

Residents need to view plans online, although CCC will advertise of applications / write to affected residents.

You need the application reference number. Each application has a unique reference, such as CA/26/10001 – where the CA prefix stands for Canterbury (as the planning authority), the 26 is the year the application is registered, and the next 5 digits denote the unique sequential application number in that relevant year.

To view online: visit Search and comment on planning applications | Canterbury City Council

Then click on the yellow “search planning applications” box – bottom left of the screen. In the search box at the bottom you need to enter the planning application reference number. As explained above each application has a unique reference – but for viewing purposes you need to input just the year and application number in the search box – so in our example input 26/10001 only.

CCC’s planning call centre may assist with any difficulties: call 01227 862178 Monday-Friday 9am-5pm.
